All donations made on October 7th can potentially multiply the CCC's funds by helping us win prizes, thanks to the Global Federation of Sanctuary Animals (GFAS) and its supporters.  All the funds raised will go towards the chimpanzees' care. The CCC currently cares for 65 chimpanzees ranging from one year old to 30 years old and monitors seven released adult chimpanzees and their offspring.

At the CCC, we pride ourselves on working closely with local communities, our caregivers spend time with each chimp, and we employ over 30 national staff.

WHAT YOUR SUPPORT DOES

The cost of taking care of these chimps is substantial.  Baby chimps are fed with infant formula and adult chimps eat several tons of fruits and vegetables every week.

Every $1 (8,300 Guinean Francs) = 1 banana meal for a chimp, 2 baby bottles of milk, 1 group meal of fruit, 1 liter of fuel for a vehicle, or 1 meal for a caretaker.

∗∗∗ OUR 2025 SPOTLIGHT IS MORGANE∗∗∗

Morgane’s Rescue

Morgane, a two-year-old baby chimpanzee, was found in a village on the edge of the Haut-Niger National Park. Children had been playing with her, her hair cut in places and a rope tied around her waist to keep her from escaping. Alone and frightened, she was handed over to the Chimpanzee Conservation Center (CCC), where she was given her name in memory of a beloved volunteer who recently passed away.

Her Fragile Health

When Morgane arrived at the sanctuary, she was malnourished, dehydrated, and suffering from intestinal parasites. Our veterinary team quickly treated her, and she was placed in quarantine to recover under the close care of a volunteer and our vet. Although weak and traumatized, her youth gave her a chance to heal. Every day, with proper food, medical attention, and affection, Morgane is growing stronger and beginning to rediscover the curiosity and playfulness natural to chimpanzees.

A Second Chance

Morgane is still wary of her new environment, but with patience and love, she is learning to trust again. She delights in exploring, digging for termites, and playing with sticks and water. Her journey will be long—chimpanzees can live for more than 40 years—but thanks to the CCC, she now has a safe future. Caring for an orphan like Morgane is a lifelong commitment, and we cannot do it without you. By supporting the CCC, you are giving Morgane—and many others like her—the chance to heal, grow, and one day live freely among their own kind. She is now living with Siaka in the baby group!

THE WESTERN CHIMPANZEE: OUR CLOSEST RELATIVE, YET ON THE BRINK OF EXTINCTION.

Chimpanzees have already disappeared from 4 African countries which were originally within their range. Massive deforestation, animal trafficking, and diseases transferred from humans have dangerously accelerated their decline. The subspecies found in Guinea is the most endangered and is considered critically endangered.

Flo always in our heart, thanks all of you

Guinea remains the country with the largest population of chimpanzees in West Africa, yet it's also a major hub for animal trafficking. Thus, our center's presence is crucial for the conservation of chimpanzees.

The Chimpanzee Conservation Center rescues and rehabilitates orphaned chimpanzees who have been victims of the pet trade, hunting, or human-chimpanzees conflict. They are confiscated by the authorities and placed under the CCC care. The center's existence encourages authorities to enforce the laws and combat trafficking, further protecting wild chimpanzee populations. Chimpanzees, being incredibly intelligent and strong creatures, cannot be housed anywhere else as there are no other suitable facilities.

WE are counting on YOU!
