Thank you for visiting Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest's Washington Gives GiveBig 2024 page. Did you know that our sanctuary, located in the Cascade Mountains of Cle Elum, is the ONLY home to chimpanzees in Washington State?

The first group of chimps arrived in 2008, almost 16 years ago after decades in biomedical research from a facility in Pennsylvania. After a large expansion thanks to many generous donors, nine more chimpanzees came from the closed-down Wildlife Waystation in California. 

Make chimpanzee dreams come true! Your donations will go directly to the care of the chimpanzees (including the pounds of fresh produce we buy twice per week) and their ever-expanding lives. 

While indoor space is equally important to captive chimpanzees, we continue to work on the outdoor habitats for both groups. Check out the video below to see the groups in the respective habitats across from one another!

Getting to know the unique personalities of the chimpanzees and watching them continue to blossom in their sanctuary home is the incredible reward of the hard work we do.
