Have a Heart for 'Heart'

Supporters like you rescued her after 40 years in a tiny cage, but we urgently need your help to secure her future.

Despite the harrowing life she has led, Heart is one of the most resilient and gentle animals we have ever met.

Stolen from the wild and her forest home, Heart spent most of her life trapped in a horrific cage. Around 20 years ago, she escaped and was tragically electrocuted, leading to the amputation of both her hands and lower arms.

It's hard to imagine the physical and emotional trauma she has endured. But together, we can rewrite Heart's story.

Donate now

Despite her physical challenges, Heart shows remarkable agility and adaptability. Using her feet as hands, she gracefully navigates her environment.

We urgently need your kindness to build Heart a specialised gibbon enclosure, to support her next step in rehabilitation.

Our goal is to rescue animals like Heart from a life of darkness and give them one of happiness and hope.

WHY DO OUR APES NEED YOUR HELP?

Your generosity protects apes who have suffered so much at the hands of humans, and who were rescued from terrible situations of abuse. You can help provide delicious food, enrichment, first-class medical treatment and expert daily care from our dedicated carers.

No gift is too small.

Be their voice and share our giving page, make a donation (any amount truly helps), or set up your own fundraiser. Please ask friends to donate on this day too and make your impact go even further.

The trauma most of the apes in our care experienced is hard to comprehend. Many were poached from the wild, their parents likely murdered, so they could then be sold into the illegal pet trade. Then, they lived in horrible small cages as a pet, all for the sake of human selfishness.

Please be part of their story and help them start their new chapter in life at our sanctuary.
