Enriching Lives with Wild-Inspired Habitats

Hi Friends and Family,

As some of you know, I have recently started volunteering at Save the Chimps (STC) after competing in their annual Chimpathon 5k/10k race.  When we arrived for the race, I saw chimps climbing structures, relaxing in hammocks and wandering around their designated 3-5 acre islands.  The chimps were thriving.

STC, in Ft. Pierce, FL, is home to more than 220 residents rescued from medical research, the entertainment industry, and the pet trade. It is one of the largest chimpanzee sanctuaries in the WORLD!  They are committed to providing exemplary lifetime care for the chimps. Caring for the chimps include fresh and nutritious meals, exceptional veterinary care, innovate enrichment programs. The cost of caring for the chimps is approximately $25,000 per chimp per year.

I’m fundraising for the 2023 Giving Day for Apes! Giving Day for Apes is a 24-hour event on October 3rd where sanctuaries & rescue centers from Africa, Asia, and North America raise money and awareness for ape welfare. This year, I’m hoping to raise at least $500 for Save the Chimps. Please join me in making a donation, any date through Oct 3rd, to support this important cause and help Save the Chimps reach their fundraising goal and continue to care for their more than 220 chimpanzee residents!

This year the theme is restoring and enhancing the enriched habitats of our chimpanzee families. New trees, engaging enrichment, shaded areas, and structures at Save the Chimps can help to enrich the lives of the chimpanzees in our care, providing them with shade from the sun when desired, places to climb, swing, nest, and brachiate, as well as the opportunity to enjoy companionship and new experiences.

Save the Chimps' 150-acre sanctuary consists of twelve family groups, each with a 3-5 acre island attached to a building. The residents have the space and freedom to choose where to spend their time.
