I can't go to the DRC. But I can do this.

Iconic species facing extinction. Climate change. Habitat loss. But what can I do?
That’s the question I asked myself.
The answer, maybe the only answer: Do what you can.
So I created Lwiro Primate Fund to support Lwiro Primates Rehabilitation Center, a sanctuary caring for 130 rescued chimps in the Democratic Republic of Congo. I am in awe of the great work this small group does in one of the most difficult corners of the world. Through 20 years of war, grinding poverty, and deadly disease outbreaks, they have shown up every day for the chimps rescued from poaching and wildlife trafficking.
60 Congolese staff members. Nutritionally balanced meals for the chimps every day. Veterinary care that meets international accreditation standards.
I can’t go to the DRC. But I can spread the word. I can raise funds to feed the animals, provide vet care, pay the caregivers a living wage.
The need is urgent. Rising costs in a conflict zone mean LPRC spends over $2,000 a week just to feed the animals. Your gift goes directly to care for 130 chimps that have nowhere else to turn.
Ask yourself: What can I do? Can I support them?
